About the best small place in the area is The Landing, and they have a great restaurant:

The Marriott Grand Residences are about the nicest of the large properties in SLT. We may give them or the Lake Tahoe Resort a shot.

Working on the Sunday drive route and think I've found a nice drive that will take us past some wineries where we could stop for a while.  Need some guidance from the more knowledgeable of you on these wineries.  Please take a look at http://fairplaywine.com/wineries/

Also, about 15 minutes off the planned route is Plymouth area: http://www.winespect...thills-wineries

Let me know which ones you think I should set up tastings for the group.

Thanks,

I keep thinking about coming. My problem is I live in Portland OR, lots of great wined tasting close in. If I came would I want to drive the 968 all the way to and from, when I can not work on it if something goes wrong as I am not the super mechanic others are. Then there is my 2014 minivan. very comfortable could carry lots of wine to and from and no worries of a brake down. But not a Porsche.

Drive the van towing the 968, use the Porsche during the meet, and then hook it up to the van again for the drive home ?
Eliminates the breakdown concern .... Just a thought ..

We also have a mechanic used by one of our local members from a nearby town on call, just in case.

BTW, you can carry a lot of wine in a 968!

I don't have a lot tasting experience with Amador Co. wines, but I can recommend Vino Noceto. The winery is focused on Sangiovese. The winemaker went to Italy and studied both the viticulture of Sangiovese and the production of the wine.

Our flight to Portland leaves Reno at 11:40, so we will be saying goodbye at breakfast on Sunday.

We will be tasting in Dundee Hills :)

Is there a tentative schedule of events yet? Trying to see if I can work this in with other events I plan to be out there for.

Getting in on Wednesday for a concert, so thinking of departing on Saturday night. Also wouldn't have a car, so if I'm there Saturday would have to bum a ride. I get back from two weeks in Europe on the previous weekend, so trying to reduce my away time.

Dammit, the more I read these posts the more I think ( rather, the more I am convinced.. ) the timing of my vacation in Italy was just poorly planned !!

On Friday the hotel will have a private reception in the bar for us, an hour before they open to the public. Also drink tickets for those staying at the hotel. I have a room with a sitting area and outside private patio so we will be able to discuss important things as late as we want. I am planning to arrive around 1 pm to go over final arrangements at the hotel. A long time friend is driving his car up from AZ for the weekend. Last time I tried to do a count we were at almost 20 cars, and a greater number of bottles of wine and scotch!

I have a rough agenda, just slightly more detailed than Jay's that I will post tomorrow. But reception on Friday, drives on Sat and Sun, wine tasting stops, etc.

FYI, the hotel will have a car wash area set up for us.

I was hoping to make this event, but I find myself between jobs, again and I don't think I have enough financial bandwidth to make this event.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens.
