I'm not looking for the 968 to be super practical, but it's important that I'm able to enjoy taking it on vacation for at least a few days. My girlfriend and I have fit our camping gear in the back of a Smart Fortwo, so we don't need a ton of space, but I've noticed that the 968 Cabriolet trunk looks unusually shallow.

What are the dimensions (L x W x H) of the 968 Cab trunk and storage shelf behind the seats?

i have a coupe. which has lots more room than a cab. I can get three sets of golf clubs in the back with a little room to spare . Thats with the rear seats down. and then there is some room for small stuff under the backs of the rear seats when in the down position.

irrelevant. as he said very clearly, twice, he is only interested in the cab dimensions. i can very much identify with that, as i also prefer the cab, and have little to no interest in a hatchback. i never even would have taken notice of the 968 at all, were it not for the cab version.

as for dimensions, it's rather difficult, as the opening for the trunk is smaller than the open area itself. it extends left and right, as well as forward, quite a bit beyond the opening. what dimensions do you want? you can fit 2 sets of golf clubs and a weekend duffle bag in there, if you're clever.

regarding the area behind the seats, it's big enough for 2 cases of wine. the boxes themselves are pretty small, but the wife's chanel purse fit just fine.

Should be possible with basic camping gear. I've done two roadtrips in Europe of more than 5000km each with my Cabrio last year. I was able to fit the following in the lugguage area:

- two sleeping bags
- one large inflatable mattress
- small electrical pump
- two camping seats
- tent
- two weekend bags

Flash, in terms of dimensions, I'm most concerned about the height from the floor of the trunk to the rear lid. The height and width of the whole trunk area would be nice to know as well, but that's secondary.

That sounds very promising, 968CS. It's good to hear not only that you could fit your gear in the trunk but that you could trust the 968 on such a long trip. Must have been an adventure!

The wife and I went from Langley (Canada) to Paso Robles (California) last year (~4000km roundtrip) and all our stuff for the week fit in just fine. The depth of the trunk is only a concern if you want to bring along a "hard" cooler or suitcase. If no one posts the height by the time I get home tonight, I will measure it and post...

Hard coolers and rolling suitcases were exactly the items I thought might not fit. Any chance you could still get that measurement, Jake?

hard coolers and rolling suitcases will not fit in the trunk. i can't even fit a 6-pack playmate upright in there. if i don't pack anything in the outer pocket, i can cram a 22" roller all the way up front, but not at the rear.

for a cab, you have to think garment bag or duffel bag, and not roller. the cooler must go up front behind the seats.
