On a brighter note, I can confirm that the JL Audio 8W3v3-4 8" sub recommended by Flash does indeed fit into the KLA sub box.

I though the Friday arrival with the low keep meet and greet was a great idea.
Wine tasting was fun and the dinner in the caves at Eberle winery was just perfect. Cigars and Scotch afterwards, good as well.
At the end of the day, it is all about the people, a wonderful group with varied and interesting life experiences who are just fun to hang out with.
Bob and Ayn really pulled out all the stops and made it an event to remember, Thank You

Yes, the fog was a bummer, the coast side of that road has some great views. Here are some shots of it that we missed seeing, you can see the the sides of the road and cliffs you didn't see.the weather was great indeed. the fog on the coast side was a bit of a bummer, but had it have been clear, i think it might have really scared some people, as they could have seen how far down the cliff they would have gone, had they have made a mistake on any of the turns on that stretch.

We snuck out of a couple of the wineries early to check out,... even more wineries! We weren't tasting all of the wines (too hard to ship or carry to NY) and as we were new to the "wine country" we liked seeing the buildings and the vines as much as tasting the wines.
United screwed us on every flight all the way home, too. I got off the last flight, drove home, and adjusted the hoses on my car, then took a test drive. *** I can confirm my car has more balls than a 2011 Cayman with 12,000 miles on the clock. ***

I would like to comment on the courtesey of the CHP. I can't imagine anywhere else where a patrol officer would pull across three lanes of heavy traffic in I 80E in Oakland, escort us to the next off ramp and when we had found a safe place to stop ask for my d/l, ins ® and then advise us that our GPS was mounted in the wrong place on the windshield. Furthermore, Did I know "IF" that radar detector was legal in California? After further questioning such as "What are you doing in California? Where have you been and Where are you going? " he asked if we needed help getting back to I 80. "No I think I can find it" I replied since the on ramp was 180 degrees and 75 feet behind us. It's nice to know that CHP cares so much about out of staters

Sunday - around noon we visited Hearst Castle with Dave and Derick (DaveN from Campbell River, BC). We then all drove to Carmel and had a great time at the Hog`s Breath Restaurant & Pub. Slept in Carmel.
Monday - first breakfast with Dave & Derick, after which they hit the road to go home. Darlene & I drove the 17-Mile Drive towards Monterey. We took the coast road all the way to San Francisco and drove over the Golden Gate bridge by 7 pm. We slept in San Rafael.
Tuesday - that`s today. We drove to Sonoma and spent about five hours there. Just a great place to visit. At 3:30 we drove to Napa and took Hwy 29 all the way up to Middletown. Then we took the 175 heading north - what a great drive! Darlene choose the route but she had NO idea she had chosen a "fun run"!!! She did not have supper tonight - still feeling a bit unwell... hum... maybe a few too many tight corners.
We are now in Willits for the night because tomorrow we plan to take the the "Ave of the Giants" - a 31 mile country road throught he giant redwood trees. After that we will need to speed things up, since we aim to be back home on Thursday night!

radar detectors are legal here. that being said, you cannot mount them in a place that interferes with your view, nor can you use a windshield suction cup to mount it. it must be hard mounted or on the dash, and not obstruct your view.
ironically though, you can mount a GPS on the windshield, as long as it is less than 7" and again does not obstruct your view.
langley - you will love the ave of giants. i haven't done that since i was a kid though. they sure seemed big then.

there were frankly a couple of shots i wanted, that i didn't get. i really wanted the long over the shoulder shot of the line of cars coming off the mountain. no opportunity for that either.
i really should have bought the go-pro i was staring at when i was at the store the other day. rear mounted it would likely have given me what i wanted.
oh well. still had a great time.
