I ----------------that the wine makes it way through the winery by gravity flow. -----------------There were of course manually powered pumps.

Hmm, that's the same way the wine I drink makes its way out....eventually. Nah, I better not even say anything about the second thing..:-) :-)

less than a month away now. getting excited, though i still have a lot of work to do on my car before i go. the list just keeps getting longer. lol - i do this to myself every year.

i'm running up there this weekend to advance everything, and check out the fun run course. should be beautiful weather. taking the SL550 though. the 968 isn't quite ready. no worries. probably best that way anyway.

Things are looking positive at the moment:
* Dad is doing better. Seems that the chemo pills were causing him "confusion". Doctor has him off those.
* Darlene is "off the fence" and now wants to make it a "worthwhile" trip, rather than a "dash there and back" trip. Will add Hearst Castle, Carmel, San Fransisco (better get my parking brake fixed BEFORE the trip!!!), etc.

seems all that remains now is for me to fulfill my role which is : 1 ) bring some cigars for the scotch tasting session and 2 ) offer a few virgins and chickens as sacrifice to the weather gods in return for a dry weekend . B)

Don't know who's "goin my way" but here's the FYI if anyone wants to meet and run with the pack. Only one rule, any red cars have to run point :D
Catching the 10:30 Ferry to Port Angeles (arrive 12:00ish) from Victoria and driving to Medford to spend the night at the Rodeway Hotel at about 21:00 (covered parking). Off early for the 8 hour run to Paso, should be there by 16:00 or less depending on pee breaks ;)

DaveN, are you coming down through California on I-5 or US101? If you come down on 101, be mindful of the CHP as they have a tendency to sit off of the side of the road, more or less out of site with radar guns to ping the unwary, especially in Del Norte Co. and Mendecino, Co.. I believe it is a bit harder for them to do that on I-5, but if you take I-5 mind your speed coming down from Siskiyou Pass into the Mt. Shasta area. It is a powerful temptation to barrel down the pass, especially in a Porsche, but you really need to watch the traffic you as some people drive that road way too fast.

But, if you've driven south before, you know all of this.

Oh, and one last request, if you can, bring some of that good Campbell River smoked salmon for Friday night. I'll be bringing some Pinot Blanc and some Pinot Noir that will compliment it nicely. Unfortunately, I have consumed all of the salmon from my last fishing trip up to Campbell River and it is nigh on time to return.

Have a safe trip.

RAP

I was thinking about coming through Hollister and the backside of the Pinnacles National Park to visit Calera Winery which is east of Soledad on the 101. If you are coming out of Carmel are you planning on driving the Coast Road down or cutting inland and coming down the 101. I was also thinking about visiting a winery or two in the Carmel Valley area if I decide not to stop at Calera. I'm interested in tasting some wine from the Santa Lucia highlands and there are wineries in Carmel Valley that source fruit from that area.

I believe we are coming down 101. We will have come up the coast to Carmel. So tell me if hooking up is doable. We expect to head down from Carmel on Friday sometime and are open to checking out that which we do not know! Lol

DaveN watch yourself from Bremerton to Gig Harbor. WSP loves out of state plates, but I'm guessing you know this. As for a red car to run point I can't help you I'm going down 101 and US 1, leaving on Tuesday (9th). Salt air, sea food, craft beer and some of the best roads in N. America. Life is good.
