i'm juggling a couple of things around, but i'm just about done now making all of the arrangements. i'll be calling in my final head counts and such next week.

Spa called this past weekend to speak with my wife and confirm.

yeah - they're calling everyone. due to the time restraints, some adjustments needed to be made to the services, so that the women can be ready at noon to go off to lunch and the day of tasting and then to dinner.

only a couple of days left for people to make their reservations and buy their tickets. i'm still waiting on checks from a couple of you. a couple more are still on the fence.

all arrangements are now made. i submit my final numbers and such on monday.

Just received news last night that my dad was taken to the hospital because of a mini stroke. He is 87 and starting to have many health issues. We have plans to visit him at the end of the month (they live in Winnipeg). We pray that things will turn out OK, but there is always the possibility that our plans may change...

i put in a special advance order that all relatives and pets of participants have no issues at that time.

Yea, sometimes life sucks at the wrong time. Still waiting on my wife's specialist appointment to see whether she can get her angiogram/plasty etc. with enough lead time to get medical coverage to go. I'll come anyway with my son; the stench of disappointment will be all over the house for that week and it won't be pleasant as this is supposed to be our 2 week vacation in the sun.

well, i'm done ringing phones and sending emails. i've heard back from all but 2 people who were on the fence the last time i talked to them. if i don't hear definitively by monday, i'm closing the books on this and moving forward. i have stuff to order and arrangements to pay for. gotta draw a line somewhere.

at this time, we have 38 people (15 women) and 19 968s. that will set a record.

So it is about time to ask the question. How many cars from NorCal are headed to Paso?

My current plan is to head to Paso on Friday morning after the morning rush hour has subsided. I want to visit Calera winery on my way down. Calera is located on some limestone bench land just outside of Pinnacles National Park. It is a rather unique growing environment and I am interested in checking it out. From there I will probably head straight down to Paso and maybe visit a winery or two before we gather for the meet and greet. Anyone wishing to tag along is welcome.

I'll be heading down Friday too, but probably a little later than end of traffic. I'd like to cruise down 25 again. However, unlike last year, the missus will be with me, so I won't be driving as "enthusiastically" as last year. lol

I think Calera's tasting room opens at 11:00 AM, so I'm going to shoot for a 1:00 PM arrival. Another interesting aspect of this winery is that the wine makes it way through the winery by gravity flow. Very old school and traditionally the way it was done before the availability of electric pumps. There were of course manually powered pumps.

We are coming down from Carmel on Friday. Haven't figured out the time yet.
