True, that was some serious rain Chris, but unavoidable since at that point it was a no way out situation.
The " I don't drive the 968 in the rain " applies when rain is expected, and not because the car melts, but because most California drivers turn into complete idiots at the slightest drop of water on the road.. I've had more pick up trucks and vans slippin' and slidin' within inches of my car so many times , I concluded there is no way I'm ever going to risk the 968 in those conditions.. If my MBZ is hit, I could not care less...easily replaceable .
As for the high heels, let me just say this : ( sing along now.. ) I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok ...

As much as you plan, something pops up to delay you as you leave.
Also, what wineries are we visiting.

+1 on your comments about this group. I have never joined another group , and rarely even participate in events where more than just a small circle of friends are involved..the tolerance threshhold for me is about six, max. eight people. Yes, deep down I am rtaher anti-social, but again that takes over only in large group settings.. Yet, this gorup's vibe, or bond, or friendliness, or whatever you want to call it , puts one at ease and makes not only the online interaction enjoyable, but every single event, local or regional always turns out to be a great occasion.. This is family ( but without the ususal annoying relatives , LOL ! )

i am taking the white car, since the blue car is getting a new engine.
the car is ready
i've given it its oil change.
i've fixed the odometer gear (lol - i now have those "in stock" since i had to order them twice while the first pair were traveling around the country)
i cleaned it up and all that
i installed a brand spanky new set of M030 swaybars and bushings so i can go through the corners a bit more quickly.
maps are printed and ready
all arrangements have been made
the weather is cooperating
i can't believe i have no "11th hour" stuff to deal with. this just can't be right. of course, now i have jinxed it. the only thing that i think is "blessing" the event is that i can't take the blue car. no worries. the white one will be just fine.
really looking forward to this.

we can pay for the room and all that, and avoid having to deal with that at the end of the day, but we will not get keys until we get back from the tasting. they will be ready for us when we get back so we can pop up to the room and get ready for dinner (read: the women can primp or whatever they do)
we will leave there just about noon to go to lunch.
rap has landed and is already out tasting up near santa barbara
banditsc has landed and is up in hollywood at peterson.
everything is set on this end and we are ready to go.
