Aw, bite me ! LOL .
True, that was some serious rain Chris, but unavoidable since at that point it was a no way out situation.
The " I don't drive the 968 in the rain " applies when rain is expected, and not because the car melts, but because most California drivers turn into complete idiots at the slightest drop of water on the road.. I've had more pick up trucks and vans slippin' and slidin' within inches of my car so many times , I concluded there is no way I'm ever going to risk the 968 in those conditions.. If my MBZ is hit, I could not care less...easily replaceable .
As for the high heels, let me just say this : ( sing along now.. ) I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok ...

I'll probabably meet everyone at the hotel. So don't wait for me at Starbucks.
As much as you plan, something pops up to delay you as you leave.

Also, what wineries are we visiting.

Dan its ok if your a your a cross dresser. Please don't post pics however as this will most clearly upset Jay and his youth contingent. I mean really after all how does one explain these types of sexual mores to a 13 year old? Nor do we want him to accidentally connect cross dressing with our beloved 968! You also need to get over these two tone aversion. Might actually go well in some sort of cross dressed ensemble. Just guessing though. I do agree with the rain comment though. I don't think though that California has cornered the market on crummy rain drivers. Pa. Seems to have its own vast amount. They are similar to stupid people. They are like rabbits and multiplying daily. Captain Kirk where(were) is my phaser! I try not to drive in the rain just because the car gets dirty. The last 75 yards seems to paint mud and dirt on the car. Dirt roads suck. I never worried about this stuff before the 968! As to the balls , isn't this something that Design 1 can tackle? Maybe something to hang from your mirror or off your rear bumper. Or perhaps as a mod added to the engine to increase dare I say manliness( horsepower)! Lol we are meeting with Brian and Robin on Friday nite for dinner. He also gave us some hotel recommendations that we took advantage of. Also took advantage of Jay's suggestion. Liz is sort of like hmmm who are these guys again? She is sort of taken aback by the friendliness of the group. Gentleman this is what I noticed right off the bat in Newtown and which is the reason we are coming. I'm not a group kind of guy because most groups don't seem to have this vibe. It's a pleasure to be a part of this club. We can't wait to get out to sunny(rainy) Ca.

The cross-dressing rumor started when my wife found a bra in the car's glove compartment and exclaimed : this is not mine, who's is it ?! So you tell me, what other explanation could one possibly come up with at that very moment ..been wearing that damn bra ever since., LOL.. Kids, ( addressing Jay's 13 year olds contingent that may read this..) we're just kidding !
+1 on your comments about this group. I have never joined another group , and rarely even participate in events where more than just a small circle of friends are involved..the tolerance threshhold for me is about six, max. eight people. Yes, deep down I am rtaher anti-social, but again that takes over only in large group settings.. Yet, this gorup's vibe, or bond, or friendliness, or whatever you want to call it , puts one at ease and makes not only the online interaction enjoyable, but every single event, local or regional always turns out to be a great occasion.. This is family ( but without the ususal annoying relatives , LOL ! )

just 2 days to go. i am feeling pretty good about things over all.

i am taking the white car, since the blue car is getting a new engine.

the car is ready

i've given it its oil change.
i've fixed the odometer gear (lol - i now have those "in stock" since i had to order them twice while the first pair were traveling around the country)
i cleaned it up and all that
i installed a brand spanky new set of M030 swaybars and bushings so i can go through the corners a bit more quickly.

maps are printed and ready

all arrangements have been made

the weather is cooperating

i can't believe i have no "11th hour" stuff to deal with. this just can't be right. of course, now i have jinxed it. the only thing that i think is "blessing" the event is that i can't take the blue car. no worries. the white one will be just fine.

really looking forward to this.

Well we are here in sunny(oops) no sun Santa Barbara and stoked for this event. Weather gods looking favorable for the weekend as we walk in the rain! Ain't life grand? We too have a white car! Lol

Have fun folks. I'm in Medford OR trying to figure a way around the snow. Looks like we'll be heading back to the coast. Weather is definitely not cooperating up here....

It looks like it will be a very last minute decision whether my wife will be joining me. She was all for it when the weather report called for 80+ degrees. Now, not so excited.

Chris, what time are you planning to leave Alameda tomorrow morning?

funny - it's still going to be nice. saturday should be cool, but nice. sunday looks to be in the mid 70s and sunny.

my wife is constantly complaining about the cold, and she's still coming.

Bill, I'm planning to depart at 7:45 from Alameda. That should get us to the meeting point with a few minutes to spare.

I'll be at our interim meeting spot at 8. As far as temperatures are concerned, remember that Paso will quickly get to the low 40s in the evenings and mornings so bring something to keep you warm..other than the scotch and cigars which may help, but probably not sufficiently :-)

no reason or desire to get there before 11:30. they won't be ready for us, and we would be in their way. any time after that is fine though.

we can pay for the room and all that, and avoid having to deal with that at the end of the day, but we will not get keys until we get back from the tasting. they will be ready for us when we get back so we can pop up to the room and get ready for dinner (read: the women can primp or whatever they do)

we will leave there just about noon to go to lunch.

rap has landed and is already out tasting up near santa barbara

banditsc has landed and is up in hollywood at peterson.

everything is set on this end and we are ready to go.

Chris, NorCal guys.. given the above timeline probably no need to rush, leaving the interim meeting spot around 8:30- 8:45 should be fine .. factoring in any unforeseen traffic delays we should still get to Paso in time, so see you then..

Dan, I concur, Bill I'll leave my residence at 7:45 AM. If you are leaving tomorrow AM as well why don't we meet at Lincoln Middle School at 7:45 and go from there.

My wife is officially out, so I canceled my hotel reservation for tonight and will be heading down in the morning. May I suggest, for the Northern Cal crowd, that we leave just a little earlier and take CA 25? It will add about 30 minutes to the trip, but will take us on one of the finest and prettiest drivers roads in the country for around 60 miles.

Up down up down. Thank god this roof is motorized. We would be soaked instead. I would have liked to have driven 154 on dry pavement as a inch or so of water seems to slow me down! Lol Dan 40 at note, that's like being home!

From Paso, I'll be heading over to Fresno on Sunday, (part of the reason my wife isn't coming along), so my only chance to hit 25 is on the way down. Is the rest of the Northern Cali contingent up for this?
