No need for cigars in those yellow Vettes, they can just "smoke" the 968s for fun .. :-(
Until they hit the corners, or get left behind when they stop to figure out how to put the top down..

"Cornering was far better than expected...the roof, not so much..... "
You almost tore the roof off with your bare hands. Good thing I stopped you LOL

it is open to all 968 owners, past and present (as well as their significant others, kids, etc). i don't care what they drive to the event. if they don't come in a 968, they won't be parking with the 968s though, as that would mess with the photo ops. the vettes were a funny exception. i really don't want to see a bunch of people showing up out of the blue, and want to keep this to our group. that's one of the reasons that there is a ticket purchase required to attend the event. it helps manage the group size and the things happening throughout the weekend. the event is an opportunity for people with a common interest to socialize in an atmosphere outside what would normally bring them together.
it has been a great formula, and i'm not inclined to change it. we always have a great time, and i am really looking forward to this year's event

bottom line is that if you show up in something other than a 968, there had better be a good reason (like your 968 is 3000 miles away). i don't expect that to be a problem though. we don't have drop-ins, so it eliminates most of that right there, and everybody else gets it.
enough about that. only 3 weeks to the hotel deadline. don't get left behind.

it's a fun drive though if you have a co-driver and the time to do it. i still plan to make a lap around the country soon.

Thanks dude, then I'm out. Have fun everyoneBut yeah, I agree..this is not a PCA event, so unless your license plate frame reads " my other car is or was a 968 " a 944 a Boxster, a 928 and/or any given 911 variation for that matter is a bit out of place for this... Even if you are a wine fanatic.

this is a tough one, and i think dan is perhaps overstating the intention or goal.
seriously, i don't really care who attends, but it is a 968 event. if somebody is bringing guests in their 968, and everybody bought a ticket, i see no issue with it. why would i? we just don't want this turning into a diluted bunch of non-968s, nor do i want to deal with part-timers or drop-ins. but heck, somebody who isn't a 968 owner now might become one, so who am i to turn them away altogether?
as for non 968 owners arriving in something other than a 968, that's just bad form. it's like crashing a party. if this were a public car show or something, it would be very different. it's a club event though, and you need to be a member of the club, or at least a guest attending with a member of the club. it's really more of a perk of being a member than anything else. have you ever tried to crash a pca event? at least we let people in as guests.
does that make more sense?
