I just called the Hilton Garden Inn, they are sold out. Receptionist suggested either the Holiday Inn Express or the Hershey Lodge, which would be the best choice?

A few 968 owners have indicated that it would be nice to "break bread" before meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn (550 E Main St, Hummelstown, PA 717-566-9292) and I am willing to arrange a sit down dinner at a nearby Restaurant. It will be totally INFORMAL with no speeches or presentations. Order off the menu, pay with cash, mastercard or visa and have lots of 968 talk while gazing down on our 968s parked below the Veranda. I will bring my 968 Coupe, my 968 Library and all of my models for viewing. Feel free to bring your 968 stuff to share with the others. Veranda is covered in case of a sprinkle.
Anyone going to dinner should meet in the Hilton Garden Inn parking lot at 5:15pm Friday, April 22.
Please confirm your intention to attend at dhassenbein@comcast.net and I will then forward you additional info on the Restaurant, including a 10 percent discount on your meal.
Veranda has 10 tables of 4 chairs each so maximum seating is 40 people.
We will plan on returning to the Hilton Garden Inn by 7pm to join those 968'ers who will be there.

Hotel rooms during the Swap Meet are hard to come by.
The Hershey Lodge is always a good choice. The Holiday Inn Express (a little further away in Lebanon) opened in 2009 and is nice. Other option is the Holiday Inn Hershey (717-469-1554) which I used as our 968 Hotel in the past (you and Doreen have stayed there). 3 good choices but don't wait too long.
Hope this helps.

If there is anyone else out there who will be in Hershey, PA this coming Friday night for the Porsche Swap Meet and wants to participate in a group dinner, let me know at dhassenbein@comcast.net asap so I can give the restaurant a final count. Having done 8 years of 968 events, I know it is fashionable to wait until the last minute but would appreciate a heads-up. Thanks.
Red Baron
p.s. Richard and Doreen, would you able to find a room?

Newbie needs help.
I’d like to attend either Newtown or Hershey. Which would be the better car-trading venue?
I’m looking for a nice 968 cab, and I have to sell my near-perfect black/tan 944 cab. The only thing wrong with this car is that I can’t hang Flash’s SC on it. Hence the car swapping.
Many thanks for any input,
Paul

- we had 5 968s and 1 944 Turbo attend the Group Dinner at local restaurant. I found out that my garage queen will not melt in the rain - good to know - lol! Aaron really enjoyed going thru the 968 Library.
- met Jeff and his son Greg (hard to believe he is now a Freshman in College and lives in NYC and is taller than Jeff) met us at the Hilton, we decided to just park the cars and reminisce about previous 968 events, check out the 968 memorabilia and get caught up with everyone's lives. It really is about the people, not just the cars!
Yes, the cars got wet but we had a blast and look forward to seeing each other at the Swap Meet Concours area.
Anybody within driving distance who is contemplating attending the Swap Meet, we will keep a spot open for you!
