WTB: Rear Compartment Storage Cover
#1

My 968 did not have the "Window Shade" rear storage area cover when I got it. I noticed that it apparently snaps into holes in the side panels, and not to the rear seat as on my earlier 944 series cars.

I am looking for one in VGC to NOS condition, Black...

Send price including shipping... PM is fine!

Thanks in advance!

Got it! Interesting... It is not a "Window Shade" like in the 944 models, but rather a cloth cover stretched on bungee cord type frame...

Were they all made like that? Had never seen one like this before!

Sounds like a David Honl Co. rear cargo cover -- used be available online for awhile. I got a burgandy one for my 951S. I think it's now sold through eBay and this might be it: eBay shop

Yep...sure looks like it, and I agree with their advertising...a very nicely done piece. Will probably hold up better than the factory one! And...it didn't cost me $179 either!!!

All of the 968 cargo covers are the same way and do not retract like a window shade. I had prior experience with a 924S and a 944S2 and prefer the 968 style cover to the retractable type. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

Thanks Bob; did not know that! I like the design... will probably use it more than the old "Windowshade" type! I have a new Lloyds 968 rear area mat and would like to keep it from sun fading, so the cover will help!

Just my opinion, but I think the "window shade" design is not satisfactory, for a few reasons. The black plastic (or something) material fades and discolors over time. It becomes hard to pull out, and the the springs wear out. Also, the end caps, that hold the roll in place are plastic, and are going to break

eventually. The 968 style cover, that raises and lowers with the rear window, is excellent. It's easy to set up and to remove when needed. And being cloth, it can stretch over large boxes or other things. I had an entire rhythm section back there last week, and it was all covered up. The cover material stretched so much over everything, that it was practically shrink-wrapped! You could actually make out an instrument or two underneath the cover. The shade-type would not have worked.
