WTB headlight washer nozzles/plugs
#1

Hi 968'ers,

I am looking to fill in / cover / eliminate the holes in the front bumper cover that were meant to house the headlight washer nozzles. They are an odd shape:

Any suggestions on how to do this? Unfortunately, my current budget precludes filling and painting, and I would rather not have inoperable nozzles/nipples sticking out.

My car is midnight blue so I was thinking I might be able to get away with some sort of black bumper plug type thing, but I couldn't find anything at the hardware store last night.

Thanks!

Headlight washers are a rare option in the US. That means they're hella cool, so put 'em back in, working or not, and enjoy the envious compliments from all us other less-well-optioned 968 owners!

It's a replacement bumper cover and my car didn't come with the headlight washers, so unfortunately that's not really an option...

They may be "hella cool" but be aware those puppies stick out a long way. I have kicked off the drivers side nozzle twice now with my knee. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.png" class="smilie" alt="" /> Now I have to buy a new one as I don't think I can cement it together again, poor Humpty.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, but no satisfactory solutions for this as yet. Two trips to the hardware store but the various auto and furniture plugs I bought and tried to adapt didn't work out. Got a quote for nozzles at about 120$ for the pair, which is more than I want to pay for inoperable nozzles. Now looking into fabricating something.

No luck with the bumper plug people. I'm still working on a solution.

Took me a while, but I finally got around to fixing this issue and wanted to post my solution in case anyone encounters a similar problem.

I ended up using a combination of 'caplugs' (model BPF-1) and generic carpet plugs and plastic washers, all of which I bought at the hardware store for about 4$. The plugs themselves weren't big enough so I combined them with the larger caplugs to cover the hole.

These parts obviously weren't made for the purpose, so I had to carve out some of the interior seal of the caplugs to fit into the oddly shaped washer nozzle hole snuggly, and drill a hole through the caplug to insert the threaded plug.

Here they are ready to install:

After attaching them securely using the plastic washers, the finished job looks like this:

The flash make them stand out a bit more than they do in natural light, and I think they actually fit the aesthetic of the car nicely in that they match the bumper protector. Overall I'm happy with how they have turned out - much better than gaping holes in the bumper cover!

Nice job. I do agree with Darryl, though, that they would look even better if painted the body color.
