You might get nailed with customs fees too, to bring it into the country, but I could be wrong.

Yeah I knew it was a shot in the dark but figured you never know. I've seen the carnewal one from other posts. Don't really want to pay that much just yet i think i'll just wait it out for awhile and keep my fingers crossed.

Does anyone have one of these and if so how do you like it. It is looking like my only option other than carnewal which is a lot more expensive.

Don't have one, though I do have past history with fiberglass front spoilers.... though the cost of the one in the UK being roughly US$612 shipped to US and I supposed the one in Belgium is in that same ballpark it makes the GT Racing one more appealing to me as well.

With my 968 not being a commuter car I don't take issue with the material.

If you go with one outside the US - Regarding customs duties - I wouldn't expect it to be very much given that I imported a ESS Tuning Supercharger from Norway last year for my BMW. The customs duties were roughly US$100 for the US$5500 system and FedEx made the paperwork & payment too simple.

Goodluck with whatever way you go.

Is the one from carnewal made from PU and therefore more robust?

The html link in this thread shows it to be made of PU. I can only assume the UK one is as well - shown at http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/pors...dy_styling.html

As far as i know. THE only one in PU is the Original Porsche version...From Carnewal...All others are "inferior" copies in fibreglass / carbon...

I have destroyed 2 of them.

Spend the money and get the PU one if you must have one.

there is no perfect solution - i've had the PU unit, and because my car was too low, i curled it 4 times, repainting it each time, before i gave up on it

the problem is the design - an edge hanging out there just begs to get snagged on something - with a fiberglass unit, it just shatters - with a PU unit it bends yes, but takes the paint with it in the process

be prepared for that

the one i have now works great, and alleviates all of those issues i had before with the lip design, but still, one of these days i'm sure i'll nail it too

I have the paint already (same color as my old 924) and a friend at a body shop so it is tempting to me becuase it is $400 cheaper. I might just have to drive slower haha.

I have a related question on this topic...

Is there a specific type of paint that is recommended to be used on splitters? I have a fiberglass splitter to install (don't think poorly of me now) and I was wondering if there is a more durable type of paint that I could used on it. Any suggestions?
