Interior Colors
#1

I think this thread belongs in the 968 Library subforum, but I don't have permission status to start it there, and it didn't seem to fit anywhere else, so here it is...
Maybe it can be moved if it gets a good response and is deemed worthy.

The library subforum has info on exterior color codes, but not the interior ones.
Anybody have a list, or a link?
This might be a good resource to add to the virtual shelf.

Incidentally, my curiosity is due to my local P dealer parts department who, based on VIN, told me that my interior is "Standard Grey", color code TT.
I've never seen another reference to "Standard Grey"... lots of "Classic Grey", and "Light Grey", but never "Standard".
Was this really the color name? Is it rare?

Thanks for the info,
Jamie

Hi Jamie,

Although I'm working on the coupe registry now i do have the cab registry complete and i think it will shed some light on your questions.

Official color name: Classic Gray and offered on 968s during all 4 years of production.

How rare? Well on cabs it is the third most popular color behind cashmere black and black with 14% of the cabs produced with a classic gray interior.

Now, what you will find interesting is that there are 7 varieties of classic grey interiors based on seat material. They are: full leather, partial leather (code TT), leather/leatherette, multicolor cloth (full and partial) and cloth "Porsche" (full and partial). 92% of the classic gray cabs have the TT partial leather.

There is also a "light grey" which would be paired with another color in the interior.

The thing about the Porsche dealer and Porsche in general is that they reuse codes so that a code TT today might actually be called "standard gray" on a Boxster but you need period information to get it correct for the 968. That's where forums, the PCA 968 register, and other sources come into play.

Thanks
Jeff

So I was way off

No such thing as "Standard Grey" for a 968...
TT is the code for partial leather, not the color...
My interior is definitely "Classic Grey"

Gotta update my profile

Thanks Jeff!

Close, all correct except the interior codes tell you BOTH color and interior type so TT is the code for classic gray partial leather. LT is black partial leather, LC is cashmere/black partial leather, MX is classic gray leather/leatherette, ect.

There is another post regarding exterior colors where folks put pics of their cars in to show off the colors.
