Windstop Mounting
#1

Hey guys and ladies. Just dropped in from the other site as its now basically useless. Like the site alot.

Purchased a windstop from Sunset, everything is great except for one thing. Former owner enlarged holes in rear for speakers such that the black pucks that receive the legs from the windstop are freewheelin now.

Anyone have any ideas on a plastic-to-plastic adhesive I can use to close the quarter inch gap between the pucks and the sidewall openings behind the front seats? How much weight do the legs carry? Seems like not much.

Thanks.

Welcome...

I've had the best luck gluing plastic to plastic with the 2 part epoxy products...I usually end up with the Locktite brand, but there are others. The various quick dry "super glue" based products don't seem to work very well on the specific type of plastic that our cars have.

If it were me, I would use a non-permanent adhesive, so that you can later remove the pucks, should you desire to do so. It's not a structural bond so the adhesive doesn't need to be particularly strong. I'd try black silicone.

i think the big problem is going to be the 1/4" gap he mentioned

Thanks guys . . . looking forward to using the site. How come no one has offered to sell me software yet or "weekend cream"?

Anyway, thanks for the responses and I will look into the various options offered. Flash has it right I fear as the quarter inch problem might be difficult to get over with just an adhesive.

Thanks again.
