White wall tires maintenance
#1

So I found this great set of white wall tires I want to put on my 968....What ?! OK, kidding of course - a friend of mine just had his 1951 Jaguar fully restored and it has brand new white wall tires. He wants to keep those clean and protected from the elements but has no clue what product ( or products ) would best do the job. He is concerned the build up from any given solutions might eventually " yellow " tne white wall, but without any protectant , he'd probably have to wash those all the time , and also they may dry & crack prematurely . And unless something is used which can very quickly permeate into the surface to keep it from drying, that could even attract more dirt. Is this a no-win situation ? Or does anyone here know of something he may be able to use for the best results and longevity in terms of cleaning and protection ? And Darryl...in case you see this post, your expertise would be much appreciated .

Not much has been invented that beats Westley's Bleech White.  It's harder to find/not as common these days, but it works the best.  Once they are clean, put something on them to protect them and to help the brake dust and road debris from sticking to them.  Regular car wash shampoo for in between cleanings should be adequate since it's not a daily driver.  I just cleaned up a 1956 Corvette that had been strapped to a trailer and had scuff marks on the white walls.  I used Adam's All Purpose Cleaner on the scuff marks and then the Westley's to make them bright white.
