Where to wire in transponder
#1

I installed my AMB transponder in my drivers side wheelwell and now need to find a hot wire to splice into near my fuse-box. There is a wire bundle that comes down from under the hood and goes around the fuse-box. When I opened the bundle, there are 6 wires inside, stripe colors are: red-yellow, black-brown, brown-brown, brown-brown, and yellow-black, and yellow-black. Can I splice into one of these? Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Dave

Are you looking for a full time hot key on or key off or are you looking for a key in RUN only hot? I'm thinking that the only time the transponder needs to be on is when the engine is running.

I don't know a way to back trace you wire colors to the wiring diagram without knowing where the wires go. If you can tell me where the wire bundle goes into a connector, I can tell you if there is a power wire in the bundle. Alternatively, we can pick a power wire to an instrument or an actuator somewhere nearby an tap into it. For instance the tank vent valve gets 12v whenever the key is in RUN. The tank vent valve is between the firewall and the drivers side shock tower so it might be a convenient place to grab 12v for a transponder in the wheel well.

Just hot wire it to battery, put in an inline fuse, take fuse out when not racing, done.

That's the quick and simple way. I ALWAYS over-engineer this stuff <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
