When to invert or replace Victoracers?
#1

Guys,

I autoX my 968 cab and run Victoracer tyres. I heard that they can be inverted to get more life out of them, in spite of the asymmetric thread. Any advice on when to do this - are there wear marks to look for? Also, do I run them until cords show up or is there other sign to replace?

BTW, thanks to advice from people on this net on pressure, alignment, etc., I got my second class win this season in a five-car PCA class, even beat a feather-light 914! Go 968!

I've never autocrossed them, but I've run several sets of Victoracer V700's on the track. I always ran them until they showed a little bit of cord. Then its time to trash them. When you suspect they're getting close to cording make sure you inspect them after every session.

On the track my tires always wore the outside edges more than the insides, and I suspect with heavy autocross use yours will too. When the tread pattern is pretty much worn away on the outside, and you're afraid that the tires might cord soon, then its time to flip them on the rim. After filpping make sure to carefully inspect both the outsides and the insides.

Jim,

Thanks! I will keep an eye on the cords and will flip them over just before they show up.

Are you starting with them shaved or full tread? If they are full tread then the wear across the tire has a chance to get more lopsided and I would swap them earlier. If they are shaved, like Jim said, wait until you think the outer edge is getting thin.
