What is your favorite Christmas song?
#1

So... it's December and my favorite radio station is playing almost non-stop Christmas songs. A few days ago, when we were still in November, I was not impressed with the constant barage of seasonal songs. But I'm OK with it now. I think this topic will receive some postings...

My favorite is Boney M - "Mary's Boy Child".

My second favorite is... (the contrast between the first and second is "night and day"!) I will post later...

Christmas in the southern hemisphere is odd for us northern boys.. The christmas displays in the homecenter come immediately after pool supplies -- always a shock the first weekend.

But my favorite has to be "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" playing over the loudspeakers in the stores. Second favorite -- "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow". Rather dis-congruous with the current 90 degree weather and continual sunny blue skies.

I actually like Feliz Navidad. It's just more festive than those slow Bing Crosby ballads. I'm also a fan of the "I'm Mr. Heat Miser" songs from the old claymation TV movie, "The Year Without A Santa Claus".

" Santa, Baby... " ' cause we all know what Eartha Kitt in that amazingly sexy voice ( regretfully her looks did not match the voice ) really meant by " hurry down my chimney tonight " . So just imagine that song performed by any of your other favorite sultry singer .. Otherwise, I pretty much I detest all Christmas songs . I can tolerate pure instrumental versions for about ten seconds, in elevators of stores when shopping, but that's about al.

Has anyone ever been to a Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert? I never have, but they sound pretty good on their radio ads, which always come out during the Holidays promoting their Christmas show.

Forgot about this one until I heard it this morning ; Alvin & the chipmunks Xmas song. Probably the only Xmas song to which I can listen and smile, the others make me feel like going out and clubbing baby seals ( same effect that country music has on me ..)

Hmmm, now wondering if Alvin and the chipmunks should also be on the favorite rock band thread.. ;-)

"Sleigh Ride", by Leroy Anderson. Maybe not actually a Christmas song, but I'll list it. Here's a link, with John Williams conducting:
