Meeting up with Mustanghusker at a local drive-in today. They don't serve scotch (and not that I should be near the stuff when I'm driving) so I will enjoy a Miller light. Also like to enjoy a nice glass of Pinot Noir when I have the opportunity.

I don't always drink Bourbon, but when I do it's Pappy Van Winkle 15 year old on the rocks with a splash. Stay thirsty my friends.

3 Bottles

4 People

5 Hours

Lots of food.

Not too bad, though Melva decided that an Espresso Martini would be a good choice to keep her awake, and I think she suffered a bit more for it.

S. Anderson was sold to Cliff Lede, so it is no longer produced.

Stag's Leap Fay 1993 is just about unobtainium

Girard was sold to Ruud (of Dean and Deluca fame). Steve Girard moved to Oregon and now produces Benton Lane, which is some of my favorite Pinot Noir.

Was happy to share these wines with good friends who could appreciate them. A great time was had by all,

Jay

Single malt scotch hits the spot for me. Highland Park, Laphroaig, Lagavulin. Always in moderation of course... <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/beer.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Cliff Lede is doing some really nice Cabernets these days. I recently tasted a 2005 Stags Leap, 2005 Diamond, and 2005 Howell Mt. All from the same winemaker, same winery, same oak so that all you were tasting was the terroir. Very Cool. The best part of this is that I set this little tasting exercise up for my wife so she could experience the difference between the the three locales. We sat at the far corner of the tasting room and it took about an hour and a half to take her through this. When we were done the tasting room manager came over and offered me a job. Apparently he had been listening to what I was explaining to my wife. I told him not just yet, but there will come a time when I wouldn't mind at all being a member of your winemaking team.

Let me know if you would like me to bring a bottle to Paso.

I have yet to attend one of the gatherings, but, when I drink, it's usually Hansa, a good German beer. I found this when I could no longer get Dinkelacker here in NJ.

I need to buy smaller bottles so I could cover more ground. Drinking them more quickly seems like a bad idea.

So far I've tried Maker's Mark, Woodford Reserve, Knob Creek, and Russel's Reserve. Mainstream stuff. I'm no connisseur, but I liked the Woodford Reserve the best. The only one I really didn't care for was the Knob Creek. Next on my list to try is Pappy Van Winkle (as Ryan mentioned above) and Elijah Craig 18 yr old.

Again, not a connisseur, just sayin what I like (so far).
