We officially surpassed the highest member count today
#1

Today we officially surpassed the highest recorded member count that .net ever had, which was 1511.

Of that 1511, there were many dead or unused memberships, and a number of duplicates (people with more than one screen name).

From everything we can tell, after a very thorough housecleaning, every one of ours is an actual person. Some joined, poked around looking to see if they wanted a car, did not buy the car, and have not been back since. We have already cleaned out any Lurkers who had not been on the site since January of this year.

We are in the process of cleaning up the remaining unused or abandoned memberships, and should have those all cleaned out in the next couple of weeks, so the number will drop, but they will be bona fide active members. As a result of this housecleaning, the site and many Lurkers are rediscovering each other. You can witness this is the Introductions area. It has been a lot of fun seeing all those members coming out from the woodwork.

We are also rapidly approaching the highest post total the old site had too. All this during a time that is traditionally slow for these sites. Very cool stuff indeed. We look forward to what should definitely prove to be a Fall and Winter bustling with activity.

We are cleaning all of this up in preparation of a number of new features being added, and more resources added to the library as well, as a part of an upcoming software upgrade.

Lots more cool stuff to come.

Thanks to the members. It's you who make this site work, and has established it as the primary location for all things 968.

while it was difficult to figure out where we stood with the member count, having to sift through the member list and figure out who was real and who wasn't the total post count was easy

.net had a total post count of 78944 posts ever (i was mistaken before and was reading something else)
we now have 82963

.net had a total of 5502 topics
we now have 8455

.net had a total of 1064766 visits
we now have 1662198

so - it's official - on this site we now have, by far, more activity, more topics, and more posts than any other 968 site EVER has - congratulations to the membership

and i think we are sure having more fun

it certainly was interesting to pull up those stats - i thought we were still behind on posts, but we passed that site a while ago (lol - even after factoring out all of my posts from both sites)

so, it has really been about the membership - they have been the reason this site is what it is

AS a relativly new person to this site I can not thank all of the contributors enough in thanking them for the posts. This forum was the main reason of my buying of of these great cars, and more imprtantly stearing me to Pete of RS Barn in buying one of his cars. The site helps both me and my mechanic who has been working on Porsches since the 1960's but even he does not know all that is to know about this car.

Congrats to all. As I have said in the past the info and comradery here has saved me thousands both in dollars and anguish. I have met (in a virtual sense) many people I consider friends and in the rare case in person! Bob, Brian and Jake to start the list, hopefully more when I get to Paso Robles in 2013! I encourage anyone who feels they have reaped these benefits to support the site so we can keep the 968 brotherhood growing!

I know there are others who deserve praise for the site management but I have to send kudos out to Bob for never sleeping.
