Vacation start
#1

So I'm on my way to the shore driving thru Phillie in the rain on 676 and someone ahead on me breaks for some reason. Liz who is directly ahead of me uses a trick she has watched me use in these situations and does a quick out to the right lane to miss the car in front of her and then come back in her lane. I break, don't slam in to Liz and waggle my car, like your warming your tires up on the track, to give the driver behind me a heads up to pay attention, and then look in my rear view mirror. This car still has it on unlike the 968 which ive yet to fix and watch as the car behind me plows into me without breaking. Meanwhile a multiple car accident occurs behind us which leaves cars strewn over the highway. My bumper got somewhat popped out on both sides but other than a trunk which looks bent, unbelievably enough no damage. So far the trunk works but will have to be repaired. My 9 year old granddaughter was with me. Neither of us were hurt but her response when I asked her right after getting hit if she was ok was, " I think I am but I'm going into shock." I tried not to laugh because she was scared and upset and told her it might be a little to fast. I needed the laugh. We have sent her to a private school and the stuff this kid knows today boggles my mind! I didn't even know what shock was at 9. Then she tells me she felt really bad for me because I was in an accident with my new car. Kids can make life worth it! So hopefully the rest of vacation will be uneventful.

You're both fine, that's the bottom line. When you drive your grandchildren about there is almost an extra burden to make sure they are safe and well. Maybe you should have laughed Rap, just to break the tension.

The only thing that matters in an accident is that you walk away unharmed. This is an opportunity to fix those little chips and maybe replace the ruubber gaskets since the will be doing some painting

Glad that you are OK,

Jay

AJG, I would have but I didn't want her to think I was laughing at her being upset. You know that touchy feely stuff! The car doesn't sound right today but hey tons of vehicles here. 19 people including 4 grand kids. For youse bachelors out there don't break the first bachelor commandment. You can have sex with woman with kids but don't fall in love. Because you could be like me 5 kids 4 grand kids! Kidding of course best thing that ever happened to me. Next to buying the 968!

Jay, fortunately we were in the Infiniti. I hate to think about the damage that would have occurred in the 968. I suspect we would not have been able to continue the trip. We took a good pop. I am amazed at how little damage there was. Mind you, it's a sickening feeling watching as you know someone is just going to plow into you. Especially when had she been paying attention she would have seen me waggle the car to tell her to slow down. I think that the exhaust was somewhat damaged as it now has a different sound. More of a growl. Unfortunately one that wasn't there before. But all that can be fixed. Ally seems to have put it behind her and the day after showed no aches or pains for either of us. The Lord watches over me at times. Except when I do stupid stuff!

Watching someone come at you like that is really sickening. I thought I was going to be seeing that a few weeks ago, as a gum-snapping teenage girl was texting and only looking up once in a while, in heavy traffic, right behind me. I thought for sure I was going to get rear-ended.

Yes it is ! Been there twice, one 944 totaled, one MBZ totaled, was rear ended because the drivers were, respectively : 1) daydreaming 2) texting . Saw both approaching at an unstoppable speed toward my car, had no escape in either of the adjacent lanes, so I honked and stayed on the horn for that two or three very long slo-mo seconds, while holding a faint hope they'd wake the f**k up and have time to break, but no suck luck.

Fortunately walked out of both accidents without a scratch , but the cars were demolished.

I have started to become somewhat paranoid when I am in "stop & go" traffic because of all the texting that goes on these days while people are driving! Gets real bad when I am in the 968. Always looking for an escape route when I need to stop...

Yes sort of sucks having all of these unsafe drivers on the road. Speeding is one thing, not even watching the road is quite another. I say we cull the herd of these types of drivers. AJG not now for want of trying. Have to check with my admin guy to see of I am being blocked.

And let's get rid of all the fat chicks while we're at it.

Fat ugly chicks if we are going to cull the herd. Here at the beach less than 1percent. I feel like I'm a swivel or bobble head. Milf, gilf's abound. Like being in a candy shop with no money. Lucky me!

Rap,

Glad you are all OK. I know the feeling of seeing that idiot bearing down. Happened to me once on the L.I.E. at about 50-60mph. Dude behind me saw that traffic was at a complete stop, but the "idiot" behind him did not. My rear bumper was bent at about 25deg angle, and the guy behind me had no trunk left. My jaw hurt, mostly from clenching my teeth because I could see it coming. So three car accident, it total, like dominoes. The "idiot", as I call him, was truly hurt and was carted off. I felt bad for him. Nobody's perfect, but stupid is forever.

Again, glad you are both OK. BTW, might be up at Lake Nuangola at the end of August. Will you be around? Maybe we can do a hang or something.

Yes I will unless your talking about Labor day weekend. I would enjoy that. There is another guy here on the forum, though not real active, that lives in White Haven who might enjoy that also. Let me know!

BTW, to add salt to a wound, the contact person I have at my insurance company doesn't seem to feel the need to call me back. The woman who hit me hung up on my agent after saying that she hadn't had time to get to it because she was stressed out because she was moving. I'm not typically a vengeful person, ok that might not be exactly true, but I have a mind to post her name and contact info at the Phillie Inquirer so all the other accident victims might come after her and show her what stress is really all about.
