While much shorter than these, the Hawk's Nest, north of Port Jervis, NY, is a great series of esses cut into the side of a mountain, just like the river below. I used to have a great time on this section in my '62 Corvette at night - when the lack of oncoming headlights were the signal that it was safe to cross the double-line.

It made me dizzy in the Van. I had to stop off at the Big Sur Lodge going North to shake my brains back into place. Stunning scenery though.

Scary, REALLY? Tell that to the people that travel these roads.

The top shots look like Bolivia. I have been on that road and I can tell you it is way scary. Nothing in the states compares. Not with pavement and guard rails. Wouldn't be taking the 968 on those roads though.

The third one (Aspen to Leadville via Independence Pass) is on one of our driving tours at Porsche Parade this year! It's spectacular, and not for the faint of heart. We have over 20 968s signed up for Parade so far...hope you're one of the lucky ones!

Hi

We drove the first one mentioned, US 1 from Monteray to Morro Bay, last summer and Colorado Route 550 from Durango to Ouray, but especially the Silverton to Ouray section of it both in our 968. In our opinion US 1 doesn't hold a candle to 550 in Colorado as a scary drive.
