I've done numerous hid upgrades for people.

There is one very very important thing that must be done when using hids. You need headlights designed for hids. Our stock headlights are not designed for hids, and as such will not perform in a safe, appropriate manner.

Furthermore, these kits that will work with the stock headlights are extremely low quality, and are very much illegal.

If you want to know how to do it correctly, both for safety and enhanced visual performance, head over to the fixed headlight thread.

Thanks for the reply

I know the housing is not lensed for HID. The lightsource to reflector to lens distances are the important factors, as well as temperature rating.

Can you provide a link to the 'headlight' thread. This site is not intuitively navigable and posts seem located all over the place.

Also, the search function has not worked properly for me.......

the biggest issue is that the shape of the filament/arc chamber are inherently different. The drop in kits change the bases on the bulbs so they physically fit, but because of the design of an hid bulb versus a halogen bulb, it is physically impossible to have the arc chamber in the hid bulb occupy the same space as the filament in an hid bulb. As such, light does not go where it's supposed to go, mainly into the eyes of traffic, and not onto the road in front of you.

I have seen the Lambo door 968 before in auto show pics. His headlight conversion was very smooth...don't know how they shine, though.....

I'm sure they do a wonderful job of illuminating the underside of overpasses and signaling to low flying planes
