Two Classics
#1

The aircraft behind my car is the oldest flying DC3 in the world. Built in 1936 and purchased by American Airlines this plane named Flagship Detroit really takes things back to a different era. I've flown on this plane, and it's a lot of fun.

Great photo. Gorgeous machine with a timeless profile. They really built them to last.

And the plane is pretty cool as well. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

Ah yes, from a much quieter time. Had to be a real aviator back then.

We're on an overnight tech stop in Iceland as I read your post and it reminds me of several trips back when we landed here and ran into Kermit Weeks (SP?) who was ferrying a DC3 which he had just picked up south of London back to the states. I thought about him skimming along as we zipped overhead at 40 K feet. Now, that was real flying.

Love DC3's, almost as much as the Grumman Goose.

There is a DC7 parked up the ways form me with a similar paint scheme.

I run a foundation that is restoring a C123 -

There is an awesome airshow in town here every march. Maybe everyone should come with their cars and we will have a huge 968 show!

If you go to my website - you can see photos I have taken at the last several airshows - I am also uploading my shuttle launch shots -

My site is still under construction - waiting for my web guy to fix somethings, so I can finish my uploads.

If you get a chance check it out.
