ongoing spam control
#1

in an ongoing effort to control spam and such, i have been weeding out registrations that slipped through before the changeover, and while we were sorting things out - you may or may not have noticed the total member number decreasing - it will continue to do so for a while, as there is a bit more to go

i have found some very interesting and cool tools along the way too - i can track active topics, who is viewing things, when and how often, as well as a number of other very cool things - this should help to determine the patterns of the members and help to further develop the site to its optimal use, and increase participation and interaction

fun stuff - never planned to get this geeky, but sometimes it's fun

Hopefully this will cure a particular chronic issue... <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Glad your enjoying it and I hope you continue to do so. If you didn't, this place wouldn't be as nice as it is. But as time goes on i feel you will continue to keep things fresh. A change of color here, a new font over there. An updated smiley selection for Dan.

As I said when Sandoval (Im sure I got that wrong) passed along the site, "The job went to the right guys".

keep it up

I personally want to thank the mods here, I know spam can be a real pain to control.

What we really need is the death penalty for spammers.

lol - nature of the beast - with the recent increase in activity, and now an average of nearly 100 posts per day, it's to be expected that we will get some pinheads

there are a lot of new filters being installed - a lot of screenname matching and checking too - i expect to make some mistakes along the way, and inadvertently block the wrong person - i only hope that people will just shoot me an email from the admin button and give me a chance to fix it before ripping my head off

Here in Bugtussle on the far east coast we are far to civilised (note the UK spelling) to rip of heads. We like a kick aimed about 2.5 feet lower. Good work Flash, Jay and Pete.
