I needed a spare key for my '92 968 and bought a key blank and cap with a light thinking I could just take it to a locksmith and have them cut it for me. They only place that was open where I live said they couldn't do it because they thought it was a transponder key. Could anyone confirm if this is true? I hope not, because the nearest Porsche dealer is 2 hours away.

the original keys for this car are NOT transponder keys - they do have a built in light though
