Delvac-Anyone use it
#1

One of my local Porsche dealerships nearby in Sarasota, Suncoast Porsche is only using Delvac in ALL transmissions. (It is a Mobil product) $52/gallon which is not bad.I just wanted to go with Redline or Swepco, but they dont stock those anymore. Has anyone used this, and is it recommended for our cars with factory LSD?

All their racecars have it, but not sure if i want to try it. I am getting ready for some DE's and autocrossing, and i am freshening up all the fluids.

Thanks everyone.

seriously though - never heard of delvac. that being said, my builder swears by mobil 1 in the transaxle. it may actually be delvac.

Never heard of it or saw it until today, they had shelves of it, in different weights. And it is clearly a Mobil product.

Do i have to stay away from GL-5? correct, our cars, should use a GL-4 someone said, and do not add a LSD lubricant?

Thanks Flash.

I'm looking at my 1993, 968 Owners Manual and it says to use SAE 75W-90 API classification GL 5

Approx 2.75 liters.

I've used both Royal Purple and Redline 75W90 and swear by the Redline product. It's $15/ quart from most places and the 968 will use just under 3 quarts. The vehicle that used the Royal Purple developed a high pitched whine like an air plane turbine shortly after the fluid service which was confirmed to be the limited slip making slightly more noise with the new fluid and not a bearing issue.

I have been using Delvac oil in my diesels for years. I have a tractor and and a big ZT mower that both use it. I did not know they also made tranny fluid.

I just had the transaxle lube changed using Porsche brand (Shell) synthetic. Previously used Swepco. Anybody had any experience with the Shell/Porsche product?

Are either the Amsoil manual transmission or gear lubes acceptable for these transmissions?
