100 mile report on Goodyear Eagle F1's...
#1

WOW! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Interior cabin road noise is about 50% lower! Rides MUCH smoother and GRIPS much better!

It's almost as smooth and quiet on the road as my Grand Marquis.

Oh, and they look cool also! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I had a four-wheel alignment done by a guy that sets up some of the fastest Porsche's in America, he knows what he's doing and he said that my car had been set up for 'agressive driving', not good tire wear. I had him put it back to stock 'good tire wear' settings. I think it was 0 camber, or something like that. All four wheels needed to be changed.

On the tire pressures, the shop said if it says 36psi, then do that, so I am... <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/ohmy.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I had the wrong size fronts for a 17" rim - I now have the factory sizes for 17", 225/45 on the front, the rears were okay.

Can't swear to any long term results - but from what I've heard hear and over on rennlist, I'm confident I made the right choice over the Kumhos.

Happy trails! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Consistent with my experience.

Yup. Same story when I went from Kumhos to Bridgestone RE 750s. Car was so much closer to what it is supposed to be.

I run the daily driver at 34 PSI and go up to 36 when doing a club run or other more aggressive outing. The 2 pound difference is really noticeable on expansion joints and potholes. My wife knows immediately if I have it at 36.

I think this is my next tire. My Avon Mtech500's just don't have much tread life it seems.

Eagle F1 GSD3s are a top tyre. I have run them for about 50k miles on 68's and 44S2s and they are my favourite all-round tyre.

They are really comunicative and let go really smoothly if pushing on a little, and they are really quiet as mentioned on longer runs.

i'm likely going ot the yokohama ADVAN next - they finally came out with a set that are my sizes - and on top of all that, they are supposed to ride smoother, quieter, and weigh 3 lbs less each than the brindgestones i have now

i think i'm going to buy a set and leave them wrapped up until i shred these

I had heard good things from Etnier about these tires and purchased them a few years back. They handle great and seem to be more resistant to flat spotting than my previous tires. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for an excellent tire at a fair price.

Look who's talking about driving the car. Flash, the only reason you don't get flat spots is that the car is never sitting on the tires - it's always up in the air for one thing or another. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Now, I DRIVE my car - and the Eagles are terrific. I can't wait for this winter to be gone so that I can make the change from the winter tires to the Eagles.

Jim,

How much did you end up with on Friday? Hopefully it has mostly melted by now.

Just curious, what is the typical cost for a set of tires?

Thanks, and Anchorman your comment about Flashes car up in the air was hilarious.

Some people have garage queens and others have Jack Stand queens. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Mark,

Very well put! Flash, unfortunately my Garage Queen found out that you want me to drive her hard and put her away wet and she is up in arms (wheels?) <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> . I calmed her down by telling her that you also have a 94 but that is a Midnight Bloue Metallic Cabriolet and not a Guards Red Coupe. I promised to continue not to drive her hard - LOL! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Don

P.S. Hey Anchor, thanks for the defensive run! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

For me finding a Quiet Running 968 tire is becoming more important than high speed rating, etc. Anyone seeing any trends in "quiet" tread designs "out there"?

Harvey - feedback i got from the dealer is that the Goodyear Eagle F-1's ARE the quietest high perf tire around.

SilverBullet,

Thanks, I'll take an even closer look!

BTW, did Greimann ever come back to this forum? It got so tedious with the concerns he was talking about, I only visit once and a while now. He was (is?) a great and knowledgeable resource.
