Timing belts Balance shaft belts.
#1

Took delivery of the belts etc.

Have gone for the continental contitect conti synchrobelts.

On my posting eleswhere i queeried the shelf life of the belts so have looked on the above product.

I see that the timing belt was manufactured in 05/01 and must be used by 06/08 a seven year shelf life it seems.

Now the balance shaft belt, manufactured in 05/06 install by 06/12 a six year shelf life.

As the balance shaft belt was manufactured later does this meen that they are used up more frequently?

Both belts when removed from the box have kept their folded curves.

Maybe the time factor with low mileage use with cars could infact be set longer with yearly checks and adjustment of the balance shaft belt.

Are the balance shaft belts found to be broke when the cam belt etc has let go.

Is it really the balance shaft belt causing most probs if the tensioner rollers have not been at fault?
