Throttle response upgrade?

I did an upgrade many years ago on my 944. replaced the wire wheel in front. It did make a big difference. Has anyone seen or done an upgrade for the 968?

Funny you should say that, I also did that on my 944s and it did make a difference . Haven't changed anything of the sort on my 968 though.

Flash made it his business at the 2 Newtown Celebrations to adjust everyone's throttle cable tension. You are giving up a lot of response if it is not adjusted correctly.

 

I have not upgraded the wheel.

Haven't seen an option for 968. Only earlier 944.

Tightening the throttle cable plus making sure the accel pedal stop is allowing WOT is super important. (Took me 6 months to realize my pedal stop was 1/2" too high - BIG difference!) You do want the tiniest amount of SLACK (not slag :lol: - sorry) to make sure the throttle switch goes fully to idle.

No slag / slack required at all, you can tighten the cable anything short of affecting the rpm at idle.

the idea is ZERO TENSION in the cable.  as tight as possible, without moving the armature.  

 

additionally, the stop on the throttle body needs to be adjusted first, so as to ensure that the throttle plate is fully closed.  

 

then, you go down to the pedal, and adjust the stop so that you fully open the throttle plate, but no so much that you can cause the armature on the throttle body to flex when you fully depress the pedal.

The wheel was actually from the 944S as it came stock with the larger wheel.

i just realized why the name "booster" was being used.  i kept trying to figure out who was being replied to.

Question about adjusting the pedal stop ; that adjustiment only allows the pedal to go as far down as it can, but it does not do anything to reduce the the first part of the pedal’s “travel” correct ? Here’s the situation with my two 968s ; both throttle cables have zero slack so all’s equal there. Both cars have the stage 3 supercharger , so equal there as well. But when I push the gas pedal in one car ( the manual ) the throttle response is immediate and very strong , yet in the other ( the tiptronic ) I have to push the pedal a good third of the the way down , maybe even half way down before I really feel the same acceleration response kick in. This is pretty much the case in most RPM ranges . Once the pedal is all the way down , at WOT both cars accelerate evenly . So is there a linkage or another mechanical component that the pedal itself has which can be adjusted so as to eliminate that extra travel ? I’m thinking there must be since the other car’s pedal feels much tighter and wound up by comparison, so something must have loosened up with the tiptronic car’s pedal . ??
