Throttle cable tension adjust
#1

This is very dumb, I know.

I've been trying to figure out how to tighten the throttle cable and I can't. Can't figure out what to adjust, probably because everything's frozen up. Can someone help? Is Dave G. still here? (Hope so...)

Etnier, have someone step on the gas pedal and hold it to the floor. Loosen the two jamb nuts shown in the center of your pic, and move the threaded part of the cable housing in the proper direction in order to give full travel at the throttle body. Do make sure the gas pedal reaches its stop at the same time as the throttle body stop so nothing bends when you stomp on it. Don't forget to retighten the jamb nuts.

Thanks! It wasn't until I'd looked at the photo that I saw there were two nuts, not one larger one.

Just like add.. there are two adjustments - the 2 lock nuts are just for adjusting the slack of the cable. The cable should have just enough slack so that the throttle plate closes completely. If the cable is too tight the t/plate will be slightly open which will increase idle rpm. The throttle plate can be adjusted by the limit bolt under the accel. pedal and acts as a stop. This stop is factory set and as long as the cable is correctly set, there should be no need to change this setting.
