My seats are in pretty good shape. The original dye is thin in places and I have crease marks but no rips or tears. My color is beige (Cashmere?). Has anyone tried this? I am told it is a 2-3 years fix and will need to be dyed again someday.

This is a 150.00 per seat fix versus mega bucks for reupholstering.

It all depends on the dye they use. I have seats touched up regularly and they come out very nice. But, you're right.....it is a trade off and a less expensive option to reupholstering. Even if you have to do it again in a few years, at 150.00 per seat, you could do it at least 5 times for the cost of new skins.



I say go for it! If you're not happy, it's a small investment and you can still recover as a permanent fix.

I did mine, lasted about 4 years, they are now ready to be redone but it was a good stopgap solution.

dying seats makes the leather stiffer, and it does not do anything about large age cracks. that may not work well for everybody. personally, while i can understand the idea, i don't like sitting in dyed seats for long.



but i understand the budget driven choice, and have taken that route on cars i wanted to sell.
