The super rich 968 owners :-)
#1

We all get compliments re our cars, some people ( albeit, not many ) even think it's a new model Porsche, yada, yada. But this has to top any feedback ever I've received while owning the 968 : walking down to the parking lot after work today I noticed something under my windshield wiper blade and found a business card from a Morgan Stanley " Private WEALTH Management " financial planner. Next to me , and in the same row was a Panamera, two BMWs, a Mercedes and a Tesla . Only the Tesla and my 968 had cards on their windshield . Seriously ?! This guy ( who was clearly soliciting business ..) must have assumed the 968 is a rare and expensive collector vehicle owned by some super rich dude :-). Sure, that goes to question his judgment , jumping to conclusions that quickly, but I thought it was damn amusing and in spite of his ignorance, it made my day . :-). Hey, looks can be deceiving , and for us 968 owners it's a good thing !! One more reason I'm never getting rid of these cars .

Correct. My neighbor's son with a bit of private high school, a few (western Ivy) college credits, slick hair and a surfboard is also a "Wealth Adviser" with JP Morgan Stanley and certainly ----- has business cards. Good news -- he does wear a tie every day. Oh man, I wish I could have been a salesman.

Numbers wise these are rare cars. Not that many of them around. Although I've said it before I get a steady stream of people by my red one at track events. If the hood is up they are even more interested when they notice and ask what's that. A sc I reply. Everyone either has a I used to own a 968 or I always wanted one. It really is pretty amazing. What's more amazing is how Porsche missed out on tapping this sentiment.

I guess in the early '90's different sentiments were going on Rap. Japanese sentiments to be more precise. Can't blame nobody either... More horses for less money.

A wise wealth manager would approach Paragon, Sunset, Auto Atlanta, or Porsche, as it seems that's where all of our discretionary income seems to go!

Owning this unique and fairly rare model does bring it's challenges when talking about $$$.

Just because I have a Porsche, and one with collector plates, makes those around me assume that I am the guy to "hit on" when they are looking for donations for whatever charity you can think of!

When I tell them what I paid for my 968, their response is: "Ya right...".

So...you want my $$$ and now you call me a liar???

Sigh...

So...belts for an ever-expanding waist, and lubricants for what specifically ...? Sorry, could not resist letting that one go by without some smartass remark :-)

Phew, good to know :-) . Oh, those youngsters ( like Jay ) who still have a full head of hair... I think pretty soon I'll have to start hitting the bottle ( the Rogaine bottle that is ! ). But I digress and taking this OT, so back to the ever- young looking 968 :-) Wealth management consultans or admiring passer-bys notwithstanding , I'm just pleased to see that every time I take the car to a place like Beverly Hills where the restaurant and hotel valets jump from one Ferrari into another or Lambos, Bentleys, GT3s, Astons, etc. all day long, my 968 still gets comments from those guys and is parked right up front in tne " here to be seen " row. Gotta love that..

How much do you have to duke them to get them to give you that front row participation? Lol

$ 20. ( $ 15 for a car wash so it looks new and shiny just before I pull in to tne valet lot , and $ 5 to the valet so he does not take the car for a joy ride around the block before he parks it in the display row )

Funny. People at work give me $hit about getting a secret promotion/raise because I drive a $100k Porsche.
