The Robin Hood Rally
#1

See http://www.robinhoodrally.com/. My son had his in-person on-camera interview yesterday; I had mine today. We've each been invited to be a participant in this production. Some of you may be aware of it...and there's been lots of web talk about it being a fraud. It's not!

Almost forgot...I NEED THE SC INSTALLED IN TIME FOR THE FIRST EVENT - targeted for Fri/Sat, May 21/22 in New Hampshire.

yeah - i don't see that as a problem at all - if your wallet is ready, you should have it installed in time for hershey

"...installed in time for Hershey."

That sounds good. For the Robin Hood Rally, there's a mandatory track day at Monticello Motor Club - see http://www.scda1.com/monticello-motor-club/. Having the SC in time for that would be a blast. As for the wallet being ready...that's a separate challenge. However - Pete, we need to do some scheduling.

Anchorman,

How about wrapping your car in RS Barn and Design1Racing decals for the cameras? That could be worth a Cool $4,000 (hoping to make a similar deal on my car ).

Just trying to help,

Jay

Skip barber sent out a pretty nasty email about this rally last week..

ALERT: Robin Hood Rally

You may have heard about a "Robin Hood Rally" through email, internet forums or because you recently received a post card or two in the mail soliciting participants for a reality TV show apparently being offered to various channels for airing this fall.

It has come to our attention that the operators of Robin Hood Rally may have obtained unauthorized access to a Skip Barber Racing School mailing list from a third party and have been using it in connection with these mailings. Robin Hood Rally was never provided with any mailing list by SBRS nor did SBRS authorize them to contact our customers in any way.

SKIP BARBER RACING SCHOOL IS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY WAY WITH ROBIN HOOD RALLY, nor do we endorse, promote or support this event, or any of its mailings.

Robin Hood Rally has been the subject of a story from the NBC affiliate here in Connecticut refuting the rally organizer's original claim that the reality show being produced would air this fall on NBC, see http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/station/as-s...n_Hartford.html

We apologize for any inconvenience and we are taking steps to ensure that this does not happen again in the future. For more information on Skip Barber Racing School's Privacy Policy, please visit http://www.skipbarber.com/company/privacy/

i am not surprised that the producers spoke out of turn about distribution - that happens all the time in development

anchor - i see no issue on our end with you having the system installed well before any of those events

1. Sounds good, Flash. I'll have to find the kitty in time.
2. I've also heard the Skip Barber complaint. I don't receive any Skip Barber material, so there must have been at least one other list used.
3. The original material did suggest that the show was being done for NBC - now it's being "independently produced". Whatever, I'm convinced it's real.
4. I have been selected to be a participant...now it's making sure the schedule works with the rest of my life.
5. I have thought about some sponsoring material on the car. Don't know yet if that's allowed. I will be looking into it.

I'll keep you posted.

Well, there's no question about whether or not the Robin Hood Rally (RHR) is real - IT IS!!!

There is a track day at Pocono on Friday, April 23rd - which is why I'll be late to Hershey...assuming nothing happens to prevent me from getting to Hershey (one never knows, as track events carry their share of risks). For various reasons, the Design 1 SC will not be in my car in time for the Pocono event, and the RHR rules may prevent such a modification from being made subsequently. Therefore, I may be stuck running the entire sequence of ten events with the stock engine. (That is, of course, assuming that I get my life back together so that I can justify the time and expense involved in the RHR participation - we'll see.)

The first competitive event is being based out of Berlin, NH, on May 21-22. Departure would be early on May 20 (MapQuest says its 7 hours, 370 miles - but that's not considering the rig we'll be driving), with the return on May 23.

It now looks like the SC could be installed mid-event. The new plan is to have dynos at each event to do spot checking (try to ensure that nobody sneaks in a power boost) as well as to recalibrate the equalization formula those that do mods in between events. Back to saving those nickels and dimes!
