Waylander - very cool that the kiddo got to ride in the car, looks like he had a blast!
Not trying to be a killjoy at all - but I spend more time than most thinking about vehicle safety systems and I gotta bring it up. Apologies in advance if you guys have removed or disabled your SRS systems. I have done extensive research on the first gen SRS system in our cars and have come to the conclusion that anyone under 5'2" should not be sitting in the front pass seat. The force of our gen 1 airbags is considerable, with studies demonstrating heightened injury and fatality risk due to airbag relative to gen 2 systems, which are depowered and which are approx 4 times safer in terms of harm from the airbag themselves.
In event of deployment, the front seat airbag in these cars is extremely dangerous for anyone whose head would be in the direct line of the dash. Significantly more than in newer cars.
Again - I'm just mentioning it and not chastising anyone, certainly not for a short jaunt etc with the little one riding shotgun, as long as the driver and parents are OK with it. Absolute risk of an airbag deployment is of course extremely minimal and most of use drive at least a little less spiritedly with a kiddo in the car.

Regular rides in the car - would be good idea to either move 'em to the back or - obviously the only choice for cab owners - install a pass side kill switch.
I want to also add that I have what I would consider a reasonably safe setup for a rear, front-facing child seat for ages 2 and up for the 944/968, which requires minimal modification of the existing seat belt system. I have not posted the setup here due to concerns about legal risk. However if anyone is interested I can describe my setup via PM, without making any recommendations or suggestions for your own setup. I discussed my considered options and structural concerns with a mechanical engineer prior to implementation and I was suitably convinced that the only safe solution for rear child seats involves as little modification as possible to the existing seatbelt system. There is one - and only one - available child seat that I have found in NA that fits the 944/968 rear seat geometry and works securely with the existing seatbelts.
I feel like the wet blanket dropping in here - so here's a pic of the kiddo on her first rear seat ride a few months ago:
