The answer, my friend, was blowin' in the wind
#1

So I determined that the cause of the back seat foot well filling with water was the infamous blocked sunroof drains. Three of four were blocked. The one in the front passenger side was not blocked but drains into the battery tray which was also filling with water. So I tried to run a flexible wire both down from the roof openings and up from the ends of the drain hoses but couldn't get past the "spots". So I threaded the hoses up from below where I could get some lips on them and just blew into them. Hard. Pretended I was a stupid terrorist trying to blow up a bus. All 4 work now. Took the battery out and opened up that drain to the wheel well. Had 3 inches of water down there. Works like a charm now. Also replaced both high beam bulbs. A fun kind of day. First replacement of those bulbs in 7 years and 217,000 km. And probably first clean-out of the drains too.
