Thanks for letting me in
#1

Hi all. I'm in San Diego, California. Today the weather is a lovely 78 degrees. So my '95 968 cab and I have been out driving around, top down of course, just because we can.

A bit about my car:

It is #1746 of 2,008 North American 968 cabriolets

It is #44 of 306 1995 968 cabriolets

It is 1 of 349 P5 White cabriolets

It is 1 of 59 P5 White cabriolets paired withV8 Dark Blue top and FJ midnight blue interior

This car is great fun to drive. I am not the original owner. The last guy did okay by the car but just okay. I've made amends for him. My next investment will be a new dash cap but thankfully there is a great place that does this work in Escondido, just 40 miles north of San Diego.

I am a guy guy. I do have another Porsche, a 911 turbo, and a Mercedes SL550.

I look forward to reading other owners' words of wisdom. I hope to share a few of my own. Most of all, thanks for letting me into the forum.

Regards, Gordon

Welcome aboard! Cabs are fun, my '94 is also white with blue top & interior. My only big problems have been power steering hoses and the A/C, which still doesn't blow as cold as it should despite replacing everything. I think I still have a freon leak somewhere, becoming aggravating at this point. If you ever get north to the Portland area give a yell. There are several 968'ers here and we'd take you out for a beer.

You might be interested to know that there are companies that can refinish your dash like new. The new vinyl is UV resistant these days too, and should last longer. The caps just never look right. http://www.justdashes.com/

Yeah Rxter, I did get the car in Encinitas. It took a few bucks to get it back into shape, motor mounts, door locks, cab locks, seat switches. I repaired the window gaskets too. It runs great now, handles better with correct tires on it as well. I'm happy with it. I even managed to find the 3rd brake light as the thing was shot, not just a bulb problem. Got a new one, think it was like the last one in Germany, and made the bottom gasket out of plastic. Engine and transmission are sound, top in good shape also.

I drove that car. The suspension was very nice as I recall. Taught but not harsh. Convinced me that I needed to do something drastic as mine felt like it was hitting the bump stops in comparison. Those guys always have some interesting cars. There's a 928 down there now. We'll be wheeling in for our usual Sunday cappuccino and checking out the cars this afternoon.

Anyway, do try to make it to the Ortega run. Your 1 of 59 will be a great add to the typically dour black and blue division here in SoCal.
