Temp/Fuel gauge replacement
#1

I'm about to replace my temp/fuel gauge. Any tricks to doing this? Should I remove the steering wheel?

Thanks,

Tom

You don't have to, but it does make it a lot easier. Make sure you disconnect your battery for awhile (an hour or so) before you disconnect your steering wheel in attempts to try to avoid the dreaded airbag light.

Many times, the gauges only act up do to bad groundings back there. You may find that cleaning contacts fixes both the gauges.

Good luck.

Thanks. What's the process for taking the wheel off? Pretty self explanatory? I think it probably is bad contacts...if I pound on the dash the temp gauge will act normally for a while. But I was able to get a gauge cheap, so I figured I'd cover all my bases.

Thanks again,

Tom

big time tip:

take careful note of your steering wheel position, and its relationship to the wheels before removing it - it'll drive you nuts if you don't

removal of the stock wheel involves removing the airbag first and then the wheel - make sure the battery is disconnected

i believe there is a DIY here on this procedure - try a search

Regarding steering wheel position, just scratch the hub and shaft with a tick mark before removing.
