Take down those tennis balls
#1

If you are like me, you have a tennis ball suspended from the garage ceiling by a string. The purpose? To alert the driver as to the perfect spot to stop the vehicle allowing access to the front and rear of the vehicle. And in some homes preventing damage to the drywall.

Well if your looking to upgrade to a laser nows your chance to score one cheap.

It looks like this device has some limitations, like it only is activated for one minute (by vibration from the garage door opener) which means you probably can't open the door remotely until you get close, but for $14.99 I figure I'd try one.

Thanks for the info.

You may be able to adjust that 1 minute limit. But as I think about it, 1 min is enough for me.

bought one like that - can't use it - i have multiple cars, and they need different orientations in the garage, depending on where they go, which changes from time to time

went back to tennis balls - they are porsche tennis balls though

Do people really have that much of a problem parking
a car in the garage??

I understand why, but after you do it 2 or 3 times memory and
judgement should kick in and work just fine...

Just sayin...

rhude - i aim for the thing that says porsche and smack into it firmly, same as i did on the track

dude - trying to maximize the walking space by means of only putting the car in as far as i need to, but don't want to leave it out so far that the door smacks it

exactly. I thought just as Pat did when I would see the tennis balls hanging. But when we moved into our home w/ a garage I realized just how little space there is in those things. There is however the perfect spot, dead center. Allowing passengers to walk around the front and still have access to the trunk. Pretty difficult to nail it w/o some sorta guide.

LOL- You should see my buddy who recently got a Toyota Tundra. It juuuuust makes it in enough for the door to close leaving about 4"-6" in the front. His drywall is really pushed in and marked up from all the bumps.

i have to juggle cars if i want the denali in the garage, so normally it sits outside - if i have to put all three inside, there is only one space where it can go and i can open a door - in that scenario, i can't open the bmw door without first backing out the 968

Geez, that thing is wide! Actually the land cruiser is the same way. I can make it fit but width becomes an issue. Doors only open 35% and there's no room front or back for a walk around. Just gotta leave the garage door up until the Mrs comes around, then close it on our way in the house. So it sits outside.

If you can afford it, custom built is the way to go.

Well the thing arrived this week and I am a bit disappointed. The case is glued shut which will make it hard to investigate and/or change the 1 minute delay (which in my kitchen test seems closer to 45 seconds). But more annoying, the wire length for the lasers is a measly 42 inches. Geeze, charge me $2 more and give me a sensible amount of wire.

Got mine also and just not excited about it. I pulled it out of the box and shot the lasers across the floor to which my cat quickly chased them down and around and around... Then I got bored and put it away until I get a chance to install it.
