Switching Cab top to manual
#1

I've been using the automatic cab top open/close or about 4 years now, but i'm starting to get scared and its taking the fun out of driving top down. I check the mechanism alignment once a year, but if a motor or cable pops, there is no warning to stop any further damage. I'm having premonitions of the top breaking.... So I want to switch to manual mode.

Question:

Those that have already, did you switch with the top up and locked or fully open? This will index the motors at the right spot should I wish to switch back (unlikely).

Thanks

I think there is a thread on here somewhere that's more in depth, but basically yes...with the top up, shut and locked, take the factory lug wrench (or 19mm socket with extension) and back off the bolts behind the access covers on both sides about 3 turns. Then, either remember to not press the button or pull the relay out.

With the top up, I backed off the bolts on each side, I believe it was 4 turns in the manual, but I could be mistaken. Instead of pulling the relay out, I pulled the connector off the back of the switch in the console.
