My hood pistons have given up. Are there any tricks to changing them out?

Hi daly, no tricks really, IMHO

You'll be glad you replaced them. No more risk of the hood falling on your noggin.

 

Be careful not to lose the small retainer clips, or gouge your paint with a screwdriver or whatever tool you use.

Place a large rag or towel down so nothing can fall out of reach.

clean the balls well after removal, and lubricate the new sockets with some grease.
