So I parked my race car down at RS Barn to have them go over it and get it ready for next season. A gentleman with his street 968 was hanging out waiting for Pete. I was in a hurry to get back home for soccer dad duty but I had to stop and admire this fellows car - absolutely immaculate.
Then I looked at my car. Still dirty from the track, both doors and fenders covered with little race dings and dents, body cladding a little loose, some sandblasting on the rockers and cladding....I think Pete said it looked like a war horse but it's starting to look like a beater! This car needs a refresh! It's still got the factory paint on it.
Lacking any creative skill I'm asking for suggestions on a paint and decal scheme. The car is black and I'd prefer to stay with the stock color but heck - hit me with some ideas folks! I could use some good creative ideas - post up some pics that you think would be a cool design

PMason - way to go man! With one post you've given me more ideas to ponder and exactly what I'm looking for. Sort of a factory livey vibe.
Thanks!

I suppose it's a wannabe thing - make the car look like a factory Porsche. The look wouldn't put you in historic or vintage - that's age and motor.
Regarding sponsors in amature racing - unless you're the next Randy Pobst or Boris Said the aggravation of rustling up $2500 from a bunch of locals isn't worth it. My line, "hey, your local store will make ad impressions on tens of people at our race."
Definitely easier ways to rustle up real money for racing than looking for sponsors. But I do run decals for products I like - especially Martini vermouth for a wicked Manhattan.

Steve G - luv that Martini package on the black 911 - that might be the winner. Like it the most so far.
On the white 968 - ebay vendor - that's who I bought my first Martini decal kit. It was brutal to install - each little blue line is an individual decal. No Manhattans during the install or it will come out cockeyed like my car! But the price was excellent - less than $200 for the kit.
Thanks!

Is there a Glenlivit decal package? I'd put that on my Volvo...LOL

LOL - Flash, have you spent any serious time club racing for championships? After I won a few and thought I was hot stuff I made some efforts to obtain sponsorsip, worked with an agency and put a professional level ad package together. There's one problem, club racing is a bad sponsorship investment! I always tell folks you are better off putting the time into making money than chasing people encouraging them to make a poor investment.
The better play besides doing work to pay for racing is to get your club to partner with companies who can offer contingency awards for the top three spots. Tire companies and brake pad companies often do this but many other firms who sell racing or performance products will award product to the top three finishers. That makes it a little more affordable and ya feel great going out on sticker tires you didn't pay for :-)
Hoosier is the best - they always have some kind of contingency program with SCCA.

Pmason - like that idea. I'm going to use the pics above to draw some designs to help figure out the paint scheme.
