My picture perfect 968 would be a Midnight Blue w/Black leather interior and M030 w/LSD. I can get away without the M030 or the LSD (can always add components later), but I am curious as to whether anyone has ever seen (or heard of ) a Midnight Blue w/Black interior? Midnight Blue seems to be rare in itself, the only interior I have ever seen (or heard of) in a Midnight Blue coupe is gray?

you can get better than M030 now with aftermarket upgrades, so I wouldn't hold out on a car just for that.
You can also get an LSD installed aftermarket. . .

Yeah, that is why I am thinking it will be best to hold out on the right color/year combo that I want, because I can always add "goodies" later.
Ever since I have dreamed of owning a 968 I have wanted to upgrade to Big Red brakes, coilover suspension, M030 swaybars, sport seats, Quaife LSD, club sport steering wheel, Turbo S splitter and adjustable wing and turbo cup wheels (MSRP $10k worth of upgrades I'm sure). Of course I won't be able to get everything at once, but over time I will build my dream machine. Eventually I will either turbo the 3L or swap a 2.8 from a Turbo S in and mod the piss out of it.

I have a folder full of that car's pictures on my computer, gives me butterflies whenever I look at them. If I had $100k I'd be all over it, I wonder if it has room for a shower because I'd have to LIVE IN IT if I bought it.

that's a 951 engine in a 968, huh? I don't like the look. IMHO.

hmm guess not. That's right, they used the 8-valve head on the stock 968 turbo.

I have a Midnight Blue Metallic coupe in which the dash, window sills, headliner, center console, except for the cassete box lid are black. Everything else is Cashmere except the floor mats which are also black.
Car gets blistering hot inside if left out in the sun so not having black seat surfaces has probably saved me having to have a skin graft on my backside.
There is another 968 in Alameda that is a slightly bluer color than mine, also a metallic, that appears to have an all black interior.

I live over in Habour Bay Isle. The other blue 968 is on the main island. There is also a Guards Red w/black spoiler that I see frequently. We all commute at about the same time and we all depart Alameda via the tube.

Mine is like Chris' above described (save racing modifications).
I believe there were two Midnight Blues...
Standard (metallic)
Pearlescent Effect (spelling?) with a bit more glittery stuff going on. Saw a '95 with that paint, it was quite nice. Devil to match for any "fixes", but nice.

I'm curious, what racing modifications have you made that still enables you to use the car as a daily driver? Mine is now at 120K miles and am contemplating some upgrades to performance, but it still needs to be a daily driver. I'm not sure about the wisdom of racing ones daily driver, but thats a discuss to be had over a glass of wine.

Well...
Full weld-in cage, race bucket, 6-points, fire extinguisher, Momo wheel, window net, full race suspension (obnoxious spring rates, delete all rubber bushings), tires (dependent upon purpose - Rain/Wet).
Modest door beams, I climb in with suit and tie and drive it to the office.

Joe, please put me on your contact list and give me a call next time you all get together. I can be reached at 510 874-3164 (w), 510 521-4347 (h) or 510 610-3396 (cell) or at christopher_vais@urscorp.com.
I'm not surprised by what you and Dave are telling me. I really need this car to be a reliable daily driver which is why I haven't modified the car to any great extent, although there are some modifications that clearly will improve handling and performance without comprimising the utility of the car too much.
