Stoich with a needle

Am looking for an analog Fuel/Air gauge. Just can't put up with my old LED version any longer. Does anyone have one they are using and like that they can recommend?

Where is the fuel/air guage? My 1995 has a fuel guage analog, but the air is on the dash and is digital. See my posting about needing anew ambient temperature guage in this section.

I think, judging by the thread's title, that gbarrier is referring to an air/fuel ratio gauge. Sounds like a cool idea. I have a console gauge plate on order from D1 Racing, into which I'm planning to put an oil temperature gauge, but I'm less sure about the other two slots. Maybe an accurate water temperature gauge in one, and an A/F ratio gauge sounds like it could be a good option. Although, how often does the A/F ratio get out of whack, to the point that it's worth monitoring...? Decisions, decisions...

normally aspirated, and using the OEM ECU there is almost no use for an A/F gauge on these cars - the ECU returns the mix to stoich in no more than 1/2 second - you would be hard pressed to be able to use the gauge

Yeah, that's kinda what I figured. Sorry to be off topic, but any recommendations for the other two slots in the console gauge plate for a NA car? Thanks.

Engine oil temp, for one.

Yes, that one's a gimme. Struggling with the other two, though. An accurate water temp gauge might be a good idea, but I'm not sure.

i used a vacuum gauge in one of them - it was a throwback from the mg days when i used the gauge to tell me the condition of tune of the carbs - it actually came in handy when i was dealing with a heater control valve vacuum leak

the third hole was the clock

Tranny temp and vacuum would be the only other two I could think of that would be remotely useful, but really they're just hole-fillers. I don't know if there's a place for a sending unit on the transmission either?

Yeah, I was thinking of tranny oil temp as well. I'd have to tap the fill plug, but I'm not sure how consistent the contact between the oil and this plug would be as the car is flying through the corners. Maybe a clock with a stopwatch capability would be fun for informal lap time monitoring. Or maybe an accurate water temp and oil pressure gauge would make sense. Ooh, wait, I know. How about an ambient temperature gauge that reads in Fahrenheit? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
