OT: "wet deck" engines
#1

I'd like to understand the term "wet deck" as applied to engine design.

Does anyone know what it is, or can point me to an online description? I've tried Googling, but to no avail...

Thanks.

Karl.

I have read many things about engines in the past and haven't come across the term wet deck until now.

I did find an artcle here that mentions it.

Apparently it means the coolant passes from the block into the head via passages that are sealed by the head gasket.

Oh, and here is one that say something about "Dry Deck" design to help expand the definition.
