Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock...
#1

So, I'm driving home from Tucson (105 degrees today!), and when I got off the highways and back down to city speeds, my door locks just randomly (and frequently) locked and unlocked for about 3 or 4 minutes. Then inexplicably, just as suddenly as it started, it stopped.

Anyone come across a 968 ghost before? Any other explanation? It was quite hot out, and though the car was not running hot, that doesn't necessarily mean the heat wasn't screwing with the circuitry, right? Any help is appreciated...

Thanks!

probably the locking relay box heat related issue. maybe a door handle microswitch or alarm issue... Orrrrrrr, maybe you were driving through some special government RF test site?

OK, update on this issue... Since the day I wrote about this lock demon, it hadn't happened until yesterday.... and now it's nearly constant. Annoying really. It hasn't been as hot (thanks to the monsoons), so I don't think it's heat-related. And I wouldn't be as concerned as I am, but I found that it happens even when the car is off! I locked my doors, and when I came back in 5 minutes, it was unlocked! Nothing missing, but still! And I have to load it up on a trailer tomorrow for the move to Georgiabama. Kinda disconcerting.

So, if anyone knows what this might be, any quick fixes until I get to the new house on Monday, anything at all...

Much appreciated!

THanks for the info xrad.... neither sound very cheap or fast to fix...

Maybe the rod that attaches to the actuator is a little tight which make the locks activate when you hit bumps in the road?

i had this happen as a result of a lead wire that ran from underneath the DME area to the trunk - it was part of a remote opener mod - i let it get kinked up when i reinstalled the assembly and the DME was pushing against the wire and grounding it out

I thought it might a loose connection, seemed to happen during bumps, but it also happens on smooth roads...

As far as I know, it's the original alarm system, no mods... I suppose POs might have had one and removed before selling, but I doubt it.

Grrr.. I'll just have to take it in when I get to GA/AL next week.

Thanks guys!
