Could be as simple as a fuse. There should be one in the 12volt plug itself. If that's not it you can always crack it open and look for obvious issues like loose wires or solder joints.

I have one that has broken tabs that works great if you can swap innards. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
