Sometimes, emoticons only display as a link...

Sometimes when I post, the smileys (emoticons) only display as a link, and not the actual smiley.



Aside from being a good lesson to use less smileys, is there any reason for this? It happens whether or not I use the quick or full editor, and it happens even if I go back in and edit the original message...

If your clicking the Show All link, you probably need to scroll to the right to see the picture.

This is in the actual posts themselves, and the smileys are so small they don't require scrolling. Instead of a little yellow smiley face, all I see is something like below (with spaces added to avoid the board trying to interpret it):

I had that yesterday trying to use a "fancier" emoticon, just got the link info. Had to edit the post and go back to a boring <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

if it was in the introductions area, it is because it does not allow any inclusions there

Ah, I'll bet that's it. Thanks flash, I didn't know they were considered an inclusion, but that makes perfect sense. I'll try to smile less.

Today I noticed that if you use the "shortcut symbol" for the smiley, like the colon/parenthesis (with no space between them), it will display the smiley, even in the Introductions section.



: ) = <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

; ) = <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />



... etc.
