Sounding off from Norfolk, Va
#1

Greetings one and all:

My name is Ricardo, currently stationed in Norfolk, Va with the U.S.Navy, soon to retire !!!!!

Today I take delivery of a 1993 968, my first Porsche. After almost 20 years with BMWs, I feel like I'm prepared for Porsche ownership and a deal justpresented itself last week.

I loook forward to gain knowledge in all those nuisances that makes this hobby so enjoyable.

Welcome, Ricardo! I live very near Norfolk Base (I can almost spit at the waterpark)! There is another 968 on base as well. Has a Strosek hatch on it. We should meet up for Donuts and Coffee some weekend.

Byte, you in?

What takes 20 years of BMW ownership to be ready for a Porsche?

To develop the driving skill required to handle a Porsche?

To develop an appreciation of true beauty?

To become tired of broken strut mounts?

To wake up and say "today I drive a sports car"?

Just kidding - in an odd mood today.

Welcome to the fast side.

I like that, there is truth to your post, no doubt. I guess living with sensors and multiple computers and scratching my head as to why there is so much plastic in the engine compartment and having to remove the whole interior to route one wire that I felt that I was ready to take the plunge and go for my childhood wish or Porsche ownership. Plus is not a bad retirement gift for me.....

Thank you guys

Oh gosh, I hope those aren't the only reasons, because the only difference is we have one computer. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

You're not far off the mark, BMW's are an overrated experience.

I am an aviation structural mechanic, so I love working with my hands. Did a tour as law enforcement, one as career counselor, instructor, and some other stuff as well, navy took me places, now time to settle down a bit.

Paul, stereo is definitely on my list... I was not aware of the limitationsthat this cabin presents though....
