happy ending to a bad day
#1

It's a typical day and I'm heading home from work. Get a txt from the wife to p/u cat food at Petsmart. That errand turned out to be the highlight of the day. As I pull into the parking lot a red 968 sitting low catches my eye. It has the yellow protective lens covers, yw fogs, a splitter, forged 18" rims and Spotless. NICE! Hmmm, Who is this? I dont know this car.

We both get out at the same time and as were walking towards the store I ask, are you a member of the 968forum? "No". Then his eyes light up, "do you own a 968?" Hell yeah I do. We start running down mods, shops, people etc. Time flys. we havent even entered the store yet. He tells me about his Borla cat back and I tell him that I've got to hear it. "Sure" he says, "actually, I would like for you to drive it and tell me what you think. We grab our pet stuff and scurry back out to the parking lot like giggling teenage girls. I get behind the wheel and start it up. Nice purrr. The car is race preped. Short shift, konis all around tight low springs, M030 sways and its all braced up. You could feel the stiffness when you sit down in it but it was surprisingly comfy. Might of been the 930 Wheel (I gotta get one of those). I took it around the lot and he says "go ahead and take it out onto the parkway if you have the time". He wanted to know if his car had the chip. (He's on his 2nd cpu as the first one died on him) He was told the old CPU was chipped but when he got the new one, the car felt the same. So off I went onto 295. I dropped back into 3rd and ran it through. My guess was no chip.

We talked a bit more and I discovered he owns many Porsches and instructs. He told me he has NEVER seen another 968 around here. I told him about Pat, Cos and Darryl and told him he should login to the forums and perhpas go to the Barn this Sat if he can. He knows Ivan well and knows his way around the engine bay of all of his p cars.

So nice to meet social Porsche people.

I had the pleasure of meeting Tim at the Annapolis Fun Run with Kathy Downs and again at Hershey last year. He is a first rate gentleman and this community would be even better if he would become a contributor here. I hope he takes your encouragement and pipes in..

BTW, me passing him at about 80 MPH (had to slow down to get the pic )

Oh I got plenty of excuses.

Family coming in on Friday
Spending the morning with them breakfast etc.
Meeting Geico adjuster at 1:30

unavoidable obstacles.
I wanna go on this trip more then I wanted to do any other event but as with all others, Its on a weekend and my weekends are all ways jam packed.

Cant wait to hear what the news is, even though I'm pretty sure I know what it is.
