The upgrading has begun
#41

thanks for the offer, but we really don't want to charge a fee to users

that's one of the mission statements we made when we first started this - we never wanted to see a ton of ads, or charge a fee to members - we see too much of that on other sites, and to the point of people being banned on those sites because they either compete with sponsors, or members whine about them

we welcome all vendors here - we just won't let them sell stuff here without becoming a paying sponsor - once they have been vetted, and they become one though, we welcome their comments and products, and really don't care if they "compete" with other sponsors here or not (as long as it stays civil of course) - we feel that open exchanges about products are in the best interests of both the sponsors and the members

that being said, if you want to help out, you can always click the big green "Support 968 Forums" button at the top of the Index Page and make a donation (you get cool swag when you do that too)

Jim,

We won't charge you money, your Pinot Noir however...<img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.png" class="smilie" alt="" />

We are happy and grateful to those members that contrbute as advocates and of course, our sponsors. We always intended to run at around zero profit and if we ever happen to make any money doing this we sponsor an event or try to add something to an event (sun shades, wine glasses, whatever).

This is a labor of love...

"clear your cache "

How does one accomplish this?

it's in your browser controls - if you're on safari, for example, it's in the dropdown under "safari" - it says"empty cache"

I'm on my computer at work, a PC and the browser I'm using is MS Internet Explorer. Tried deleting the temp files, but that doesn't seem to have helped. My problem is that I am very familiar with Apple but not at all with PC and also because we have army of IT types to keep everything more or less running.

Yep, that's way old. Most sites will not even accept that anymore. The latest version is 9 currently.

yeah - unfortunately the nature of the beast - as more advanced things become available, you have to upgrade to be able to use them

of course, that's really just a PC thing - lol

Upgraded the browser to 8.0 and nothing comes up after the home page. If I got to the new posts tab, I get a blank page with a notation at the bottom that says : done but errors on the page.

I'm doing this post from my IPhone. On which, BTW, the upgrades look really nice and appear to work great.

No firewall blocking as there wasn't a problem before the site upgrade. The privacy setting is a medium so most cookies are allowed.
